Above are coasters made from scrapbook paper and laminate samples at Home
Depot (free). Cheapest. Coasters. Ever. All I did was cut scrapbook
paper into 4x4 squares, use Modge Podge to stick to the tile, Modge
Podge over them for a clear coat, and finally, used clear acrylic spray
as another seal. To ensure the tiles don't scratch any surfaces, I
placed felt pads under neath each one. I also used these same steps
using bathroom tiles from Home Depot. While the laminate coasters work fairly well, the bathroom tile coasters are sturdier.
