Chief Ladiga Trail
Hubby's Father's Day weekend activity of choice was to ride or first Rails to Trails bike trail. We drove to Anniston and started at the beginning of the Chief Ladiga Trail. We drove through Weaver, Jacksonville and got almost to Piedmont before my legs about gave out - and we still had to ride the 15+ miles back to our car. It was a gorgeous way to spend a family day together. We took MK with us, and she didn't make a peep except when her hat fell over her eyes and she couldn't see, and then when I had to change her diaper on the trail - she didn't care for the stick and the rocks underneath her diaper-changing pad :) Happy first Father's Day honey! I love you!

Tour de Cure
So the Pedalin' Perrys began as my husband was invited to ride with his company in Alabama's Tour de Cure. The Tour de Cure raises money for diabetes research. My husband's father passed away in 2010 from leukemia, but he was also a diabetic, and that caused several problems for him that potentially made the leukemia treatment unsuccessful. So, naturally, hubby is riding for his father - who (besides my own dad) was probably the greatest man I've ever known. He is riding in the 20-mile ride, since this is his first ride. Other members of his team are doing the 100-mile ride (no thanks), and I am very proud of him for attempting this. Plus, it has been fun finding a way to exercise as a family. He reached his goal of $150 thanks to family and some co-workers, and has raised his goal to $250 - if any one wants to support Paul on his first ride, visit his Tour de Cure page. The race is May 12, so stay tuned!

First Ride in Baby Trailer sans Carseat
MK had a great time riding like a big girl in her baby trailer. This kid has it made! And, I didn't fall down or hurt myself - sweet success!

Pedalin' Perrys
The Pedalin' Perrys are coming to a park near you! Look out - we are equipped with a baby trailer, water cooler, and a little awkwardness from yours truly. When I first tried out my bike at Cahaba Cycles (bless the sales guy's heart for not laughing), I felt like I needed training wheels. I couldn't ride that stinking bike for anything. When we got it out at the park, the first thing I did was to not move my heel fast enough and the pedal took out a chunk of my heel - almost a month has passed and I still have a scab. Then, after I made it safely one way towards the back of the park, I turned too fast and fell - thank goodness for helmets. Since then, I have been slightly more graceful, but not to worry, if you see multiple bruises, there's no reason to call the authorities - unless you can report my bike for beating me up.

The Obsession Begins
| As if the background of this blog wasn't nauseating enough... |
I had originally always wanted to start a blog on product reviews. I am a sucker for anything that claims to make your life easier, or make you burn more calories, the next greatest exercise that burns fat while you eat a Snickers or just looks cool. There's no telling how much money I've spent on funky products. Then, my obsession with cupcakes began...not just making cupcakes (which I don't really even eat by the way), but cupcake clothes, cupcake decor, cupcake crafts, etc. Poor MK is going to despise all things pink and all cupcakes I'm sure. Her room is so ridiculously pink that I am sure she will turn goth just to spite the pink. But that's OK - I am sure I can find a recipe for black cupcakes.
So, here are my adventures on ridiculous (and some actually helpful) products, cupcakes, being a mom and other random musings. You'll probably see lots of show-off pictures too, as I am one of those mom's who will stick a photo in your face before you can even ask.
BTW, I am sure you will find lots of errors - don't bother telling me about them. I spend all day editing other people's work, and I don't feel like editing my blog too :)
